The Iron Fairies | Brea | Fairy of the Nasturtium.
Oranges and yellows and shades of red,
Umbrella shaped leaves make a cosy bed.
Growing so fast and spreading so wide,
Secret little paths and places to hide.
The Nasturtium is home, to me and my friends,
And a playground of fun that never ends.
I’m a fairy called Brea and you might even see,
If you look close enough, a little butterfly and me!
The Iron Fairies are a collection of cast iron sculptures by Australian artist, Ashley Sutton.
The fairies slumber in a state of suspended animation until they’re brought above ground, sprinkled with magic fairy dust and touched by the first light of the morning sun. Only then are they set free to roam the world, making wishes come true.
If you bring home an iron fairy, you must awaken your new friend also, by following the instructions that arrive with your cast iron sculpture.
Each fairy has a name, the wings of a certain insect, and a poem that tells you what kind of fairy she is.
You’ll find that some of them have a rusty sort of look and some are more blue or green.
Blue fairies are the naughty ones—so look out!
Eventually The Iron Fairies will all develop a beautiful patina of natural rust, whether you give them a home indoors or out.
Each Fairy comes in a personalised bag containing a certificate of authenticity, information about the fairy and fairy dust.
The height of the Iron Fairies vary from approximately 6 -10cm. The fairies sitting down are the smallest. Each Iron Fairy is hand cast & will be slightly unique in appearance with slight colour variations.
