The word Tetragrammaton is used in reference to the four letter word for God in the Hebrew Bible. The Tetragrammaton symbol has been called the esoteric pentagram. Eliphas Levi, a French occultist was credited with its design in the 19^th century. The Tetragrammaton includes a diverse variety of symbols that can include those that are planetary, astrological & alchemical & has been said to represent human existence as well as the Divine.

The Pentacle (surrounded by a circle) & Pentagram (no circle) are ancient symbols depicting a five pointed star that have been used by different faiths and cultures. They have been used to symbolise earth, air, fire water & spirit. They also symbolise protection, power, magic & the masculine & feminine. Some believe that the Pentacle offers more protection; with its surrounding circle it may also symbolise balance, unity, harmony, infinity & the Goddess as well as the harmony of all its elements.
